Because we use firearms to discharge projectiles, not for hunting, but for accumulation of simulated "kills" or points that have a direct bearing on the outcome of team competition.

Just because our guns are not firearms for the purposes of some legislation does not mean they are not still firearms. There are competition airgun shoots that do not use high-powered airguns (ie they are actual registerable firearms), and they are considered a sport.

Hey, does this mean that the supposed trademark Xtreme Precision held on all airsoft gatling style guns in Canada that prevented everybody and anybody from so much as making one for personal use is now void?
These guys were practically airsoft terrorists.

...Well shit. :s That means I can buy / import a real gun easier then an airsoft gun.

..... I am... mildly disturbed by that fact.

my only question is if the RCMP and CBSA are doing this and cutting our resouses for airsoft off. Do any of you think we'll run a protest? I' meen we all fallow the rules, and it's pretty retarted that we have to use clearsoft"crapsoft", and can't use Full metal or Black AEGs. If you look at england and scotland they don't need an orange tip or clear plastic parts, and the US only requires the orange tip. So why the f**k do we have to have different rules? I can understand the one or two Jackasses out there who use them for crime but they do in the states and britain. The Canadian Govnerment has isues with airsoft, and One of these days i swear the athoritys are going to tri and pull a big one on us...

Different countries different rules Daviday, it really is that simple.

While I leave hope for airsoft in Canada yet, sad realities point to its coming death. The general public of Canada are increasingly anti-gun; and the only thing to save that is the Red Coats to invade again. Now since that'll never happen ((well, less we count Russia as Red coats :P and Canada was the last source of Oil)) there is no "need" for large sources/collection/access to firearms. Once you have fear and or negative reaction to real firearms the idea of a replica/toy is just that much more a target. By technical terms all members should not forget that the RCMP/CBSA/CFC DO have a mandate to target us, as no one was "supposed" to have been able to get their hands on airsoft since 1998, but lack of public interest and enforcement on such laws allowed us to. It is only because the backlash on the RCMP that COULD rise from going after SO many individuals could spark investigation into groups like the RCMP/CBSA and CFC could be launched due to the fact that even though they were given a mandate to keep them out they did nothing against it. Hence why you really see the targeting of the retailers, they are a much smaller group of people and at the same time are the ones that are "bending" the rules by bringing in the devices. Also these targets do not open up inquest as to why the Policing agencies have been "allowing" the devices in, but rather that they were "On-going investigations" and all that jaz.

Clear AEG's might be a real reality, even though I don't like the idea of seeing our sport basically turn into paintball, with "markers" and really just loosing the realism. Brittian and Scotland both had groups that got together with HUGE legal backing to form regulating groups that uniformed the sport for them. Canada is such a large country that this becomes VERY difficult simple because the terrain you have is no where near the same as the terrain I have, and with terrain being huge factors in FPS limits, engagement distances, and even sometimes ammo limits.

Orange tips are actually not the greatest idea for "identifying" airsoft, a quick run to the paint shop and you now make your real steel appear to be a harmless toy and some officer/civi gets shot because of the mistaken appearance. They are however can be great identifiers for transporting the device, but again not the best. Not ALL officers know the ins and outs of fire arms, and there are QUITE a few officers that would not be able to tell the difference between real and fake even when looking at the chambers, magazines most likely would be easier give aways for them, but that still doesn't stop a bad guy from painting the tip and tossing a couple GBB mags into his backpack to sneak a real steel around.

Anyway, its far more complicated than just walking the hill.

that's a good point but if the 007 airsoft guy is purchesing good quality clearsoft guns i'll defenetly buy them. Personaly i think the canadain govnerment should make some sort of licence or permit to import and sell, and maybe one for the players too, like owning a real gun. I mean i haven't herd of one person who travels with there gun exposed and if they do their pretty dumb. Any ways it might be VERY difficult to start some legal backing, but it`s still posable and i think we could do it with alot of work to fix this HUGE isue, because alot of us just turn are back on the problem and ignore it, but if we all band togther we can protect the game we know and love.``those are just my thoughts``

That idea's been mentioned many times, personally I've had the idea that it would be very possible for CFC to create a subsection on the PAL for airsoft use. However again it is politics, who is going to pay for said changes to be made? The general public; who does not want funds going to programs/changes they don't want. Again its not easy to have any sort of "fix" in sight because there are no plausible fixes in sight at present nor the near future.

We could pay for it. (granted I'm sure there are hidden costs and angles and reasons I can't possibly think of right now)

I mean, if people in Ontario have to pay for their own sex change operations...

Oh... wait....

one idea is to show the public airsoft and prove it`s not as dangours like most think, and it would defently raise questions, but it would show to the govnerment that we care about the sport at the leaset.
