Also, since I'm generally becoming a grammar Nazi - the irony of this post is delicious!

P.S. - FireFox has a spell-check feature built in. You don't have to select it or anything - it automatically highlights misspellings for you.

Actually, there is a law... the Criminal Code of Canada, as you all know well, classifies a firearm as something that shoots a projectile at greater than 500 fps (equivalent of) OR has more than 5.7 J of energy. The Firearms Act requires both 500 fps and 5.7 J.

So by shooting an AEG with a muzzle velocity greater than 500 fps, you are technically discharging a firearm. That is a whole new can of worms that you don't want to open.

Since when has it been an and/or thing? It's always been AND, not one of each.

Thank you Stalker...
The CFC has dictated that in order to be classified as a firearm, the "weapon" in question must meet 2 criteria. The first is that the kenitic energy must equal or exceed 5.7 joules (measured at the muzzel), and then if it meets this criteria, the fps must be equal or exceed 500 feet per second (also measured at the muzzel).
So even if your airsoft was shooting over 500, it would still not be considered a firearm. The stipulations are clear, and if you do some calculations, you'll figure out that we could almost get away with close to 700 fps. However, this kind of fps would result in severe injuries and would more than likely end up with the user being criminally charged with criminal negligance (the intent to shoot someone is still a crime), possibly assault causing bodily harm, and the personal injury law suits can cost you big money in pay outs if they decide to sue you. Especially if someone suffers the lose of an eye.

The ASC rules on fps and such have been in existance for over 20 years, and they have served us well.

The paintball grip more because the balls are larger, but the BB of airsoft break the skin more easily than the paintball because they are smaller and hard. The BBS have intendances to also arrive in gust, contrary to the paintball which is semi car. To draw with the gun has lead is not badly stupid. I already saw a teenager playing Ca with tits gun cheap, worse y it is made break a joint...

Edit: already said

As for using bb guns with just masks. Way uncool! I've been shot with a daisy before and still have the scar on my chest to prove it. After 5 minutes digging out the pellet with tweezers and stopping the bleeding, I got a rapid trip to the hospital to be treated for lead poisoning since it hit about 1in. from my heart. Unluckly it was a pointed pellet. Flat ones go through shirts and give lead poisoning as well (seen it happen).

Theres a reason the russians actually were full tack gear when playing "hardball" (aka airsoft with pellet guns).

P.S - this thread is being held directly responsible for sig change

The CFC is based on the Firearms Act... which defines a firearm as having to have both criteria.
The Criminal Code does not and requires only one of the other.
You can look for the definition of a firearm under the Criminal Code I'm not going to quote it unless you guys want me to.
But we have all seen it before.

Actually went to the CFC website.
And it confirms what I said above.

I was only making a point that having a AEG 500 fps may lead to criminal liability under the Criminal Code.

Not really that ironic. It actually highlights his point. He did not preach that we all should have grammar and spelling like his, nor did he say people should not make mistakes. He said that the school system should concentrate more on improving grammar and English in general. I'm sure he is a product of the Canadian school system; therefore, he is arguing that the system has failed him as well as others. Having mistakes is therefore to be expected; not having any would be the exception.

It's like when somebody argues that people should have more opportunities to take transit instead of cars, then he/she drives everywhere. This does not make him/her a hypocrite. Clearly, if people had more opportunities then he/she would too, and he/she would then drive less.
