ok... I agree

some specialty items.. are more difficult.. maybe not possible.. but when you are looking for "regular stuff" there really is no issue... other than cost.

Try ordering regular old ICS internal parts from a Canadian retailer...

All I ever hear over here is whine whine whine Customs whine whine law is unclear whine whine....

Do something about it.

I have, on average, one letter published in a newspaper somewhere across Canada per month. Sometimes, more. My MPP and my MP know me by name and by face, as I've been to both their offices. I've protested everything from firearms rights (or the lack thereof) to traffic problems. My arguments are always well thought-out, backed by solid facts, and presented without hostility.

As an example, I've been in discussions with several levels of Government over the Ontario Amunition Regulation Acs of 1994. Essentially, the law that requires all firearms owners in Ontario to have their name, address and type of ammunition purchased recorded in an insecure ledger behind the counter wherever you buy ammo also violates Federal PIPEDA law for privacy of personal information. Federal law trumps Provincial, and the Province is in violation with the Act.

Recently, they stopped talking to me about it further; people I was having regular dialogue with suddenly told me they couldn't discuss it. Why? I hit something they couldn't make dissapear and I expect the lawyers are looking at it and dropping a big ohshit over it.

I am one person, one vote, among 30 Million. DO SOMETHING and be part of the solution.

Not that I'm some illustrious pillar of the community, but I've sat down for dinner with my MP and MLA in the past, and discussed these very topics. Lately they can't talk about it for some reason either, and now that you mention the same thing it seems very odd indeed.

I know somebody who got 11 AEG's into Canada that are from Europe. All he has is a certain kind of importation license. It took 5 mnths to process and 150 bucks for the card. With this all he has to do is have them disassembled upon arrival into the country.

There is no such thing. Either you have the exact details wrong, or the guns made it in under the radar.

Please go to the CFC and look at the licensing. Nothing like that exists. If it did, others would have found out about it years ago, I promise you.

F ccra! this is a sport, we are in the right, I am tired of paying the price for irresponsible a$%holes in the ghetto who can't behave. Smuggling = Crime
Smuggling GUNS = GUN crime

Why is it so hard for people to accept there is an effective ban against the importation of AEGs?

And why do I read time and time again in the same thread that the CFC says its LEGAL to import these?

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/faq/import_e.asp

Quote:
Q. Can I import an air soft gun?

Air soft guns that meet the definition of a replica firearm are prohibited. Replica firearms are devices that resemble a real firearm (other than an antique firearm) with near precision but that cannot cause serious injury or death. Many of these devices have to be assessed case by case to determine if they are replicas.

Individuals cannot import replica firearms. A properly licensed business may be able to import a replica for an approved purpose such as for use in a film or theatrical production.

The Canada Border Services Agency is responsible for controlling the import of air soft guns that are not replicas– for example, devices that resemble a generic firearm but not a specific make or model of firearm. For more information, please contact the Canada Border Services Agency.

Provincial regulations may also apply. For example, some provinces may set a minimum age for acquiring an air soft gun.

Personally I'd love to know what "generic" fire arm is, because there are lots of Bolt Actions out there that look a lot like hunting rifles. The M700 could pass as not being a SPECIFIC rifle as there are many that are similar, there are even similarities between IT and an M24 Civi.

And Ibby's right, not a lot of Canadian vendors are looking to import anything we "want". I believe you can make specialty orders with A&A, but what and how long it takes is up to them and their "tea parties" with CBSA.

I heard something similar, except it cost $500 and must be driven over. I still think it's a myth.

According to Ken C of 007 you need a business firearms license at the very least. Which makes a lot of sense eventhough I had an idea that the BFL is what you needed in the first place. I guess I'll ask my buddy to see if this is what he has.

There are lots of people that have BFL ... with a BFL you can have Replicas Legally Transfered ( permanently ) to you if you have a Special Authorization to posses Replicas.

But a BFL alone does not allow you to import airsoft guns.. you still need an import license..

Essentially you need a BFL, a special Authorization to Posses Replicas, and an import license allowing the importation of Prohibited Devices.

Then you could import Airsoft Replicas... but legally you could not "really" sell them because that would be transfering prohibited devices to an unlicensed Transferee.. and that is a criminal offense.

So before someone asks " if that is true how do the existing retailers do it?'

They do it for money.. hoping that the law will tolerate it because the volume they are bringing in is so small as to be not worth investigation or the costs of prosecution, And I expect the existing retailers are very careful to pay their taxes on time.

Airsoft retailers can sell guns for exactly the same reason that a small time weed dealer can ply his trade, Sure "technically" its illegal, but really who does it hurt?

If you bought it in the USA then it has to have it. Simply put, while youre in the US you can't take the orange flash hider off without breaking federal law.

If you went through Customs with a gun that didn't have the orange tip, then it's obvious that you broke the law while in the states.. Once youre back in canada, feel free to spraypaint that badboy flat plack, It's only the law in the USA.

I think that about covers it
