Anti-Sniper role ?

what is this role exactly ?

from what i've heard it seems really interesting since the sniper role is by far my favorite but if I can play this role without having to wear a ghillie suit and be hidden for hours , it would be perfect ! ( not that i hate those 2 aspects but if I can get rid of them , I'd be so happy ! )

means locating & suppressing/eliminating snipers and/or not allowing them to complete their mission objectives.

you would probably have to search around a bit looking for a good ghillie-wearing sniper, but as for airsoft snipers... most dont have the patience to properly stalk (not when the round will be over in 30 mins and/or that day's game is only a couple hours long...) so its boils down to basic find the sneaky bastard first and when you shoot at him, make sure you actually hit him, not just let him know where you are. pretty much your average game then, i guess...

Mess with the best, die like the rest is not the USMC motto, as for the rest of your sig

As for your question, it's pretty obvious

Simple Answer.
Counter Sniper's are tasked with finding enemy sniper's eliminating them.

Brian at TTAC3 has mentioned the possibility of anti-sniper course for sometime this year, something to keep one's eye out for.

If you want to be successful in getting an airsoft sniper, you have to be one yourslef or set up a good ambush.

You will have him while he is moving most probably. A good sniper will be almost impossible to detech when he is ambushing. At least, with the techologie avelable in airsoft.

Once you find the sniper, you have to supresse it with large about of fire since you can't always say where exacly he is.

When I'm sniping and I'm discovered, I prefer to run and set up an ambush somewhere else to nail the guys running at me. Or just get the hell out of the erea and come back later.

ok , that pretty much answers my question , thanks guys. Maybe a little appointment is necessary , though. Precisely , is the anti-sniper wearing the same camo as others , plays like others but have a sniper rifle for primary weapon so he can take out the hiding sniper if he finds one and if he dont , he can take out a guy at long distance and have a backup for shorter distances ?

and what is the minimum distance where you can actually snipe someone without physically hurting the target ?? ( I'm not that kind of vicious guy that snipes other people from close distance , that's just stupid )

and Mikel , look at this website http://www.emarinepx.com/aw-074.htm
that should change your mind 8)

minimum engagement distance depend on your rifle. a typical M24 upgraded to 450fps is about 75-100 feets minimum. engagement range extend to 200-300 feets with compensation.

More can be obtained with good conditions and skills mixed with luck.

Don't think hollywood when you think about that role. Counter sniping is done by anyone willing to do it.

IMO, it's best done with other sniper or a bunch of people with heavy fire support like tanks and artillery.

In airsoft, Stalker and his pals, running around tossing frag grenade is a damn good sniper deterrant. :-D

lol , i guess so 8)

thanks for appointments guys , really appreciated.
I'm now thinking about being both , sniper and counter-sniper , depends on how much snipers has the other team and the type of game. i'll be equipped with a sniper rifle as my primary , though , and will have a backup weapon , capable of taking out close range targets from 100 ft and less ( MP5K probably )

thanks a million !

Just a general question to anyone:

Has anyone ever accidentally stepped on a sniper in ghillie during a game?

I'v been stepped on a couple of time. I made 1ft freezes too.

This was the first time I tested my ghillie (version beta 1)
It was still very good even if the strands where not mixed...

Stalker, when not around his pals, is enough of a deterant to snipers, not that those on the opposing teams really play a true sniper role. My being skilled in hte way of the sniper is a tool, yes, have a full effective ghillie, but the times that the ghillie can be used is few & far between. But the ghillie doesn't make the sniper, the sniper is with whatever he has on him. I lug my 16lb M24 around with me 95% or the time, and when I can get into a position to raise hell on unsuspecting woodland guys, I don't NEED a ghillie to sneak in to take them out. Snipers tend to be highly skilled in camo, and can be effective with whatever camo they decide to use, and use the role for the benefit of the team they are on. I may stalk and get 90% of my kills with my MP5, but when I can take a safe shot with my M24, I'll do it. If it's best I harrass guys in a base we are attacking, I'll unload my sniper rifle at them and play psych games. If it's a long, important game, and recce is needed, I'll put on my ghillie and go sit close to radio info back to base. Airsoft snipers is a pretty boring and useless role 75% of the time, but when it can be fully used, it can make of break the vicoty of the team that has that asset.

Only way to be a good counter-sniper is to be a good sniper to begin with, camo, observation, understanding, ballistics, etc. all comes with airsoft sniping. No one can train you to be a counter sniper, period. You have to learn to be a sniper first, then use that knowledge to be a counter sniper.
