Do bb's go "stale"

Hey , I'm not really new , kind of dabbled in airsoft in the 90's , never got much chance to play ,..ended up just making a hobby of buying cheap broken guns & fixing them up ,or making wall hangers ,..anyway I was considering maybe getting back into it ,..in the process of cleaning up & taking stock of my old gear I found several bags of KSC & KWA brand bb's ,..they have got to be going back to early or mid 90's by now ,..so my question is , Do they become brittle or decompose with age ? would they be safe to use or should I just toss them ,..just wondering before I try using them in a collection of vintage mauri aegs ...

Actually, with the cost of BBs today which are hella cheap for a bag of 4000, I would'nt even try your old BBs and buy new ones. You can always keep them for bobby traps and all, but I wouldn't personnaly take the risk of trying them in an airsoft gun.

I still have my old Excel .20g BBs that are what, 7-8 years old now, always ambient temperature stored though, and only use them in my current pistol. So far I never had issues, but that's because i'm too lazy to buy new .20-.23 BBs for my pistol since I only play few games a year.

In the end, buy a new bag

They are non bio.
Way more resilient than bio BBs.
Should still be good.

They are still good, but most field will want you to use bio BBs now. Theses will break down in a few months, especially if exposed to humidity.

I have a bag of MetalTech .25s in black (seems like no one makes good, black BBs anymore). They are not made anymore since 2005 and I got the bag from a guy that stopped playing in 1999... fed a bunch in my very picky Katana and never had a jam.

The answer is yes.
Some break down in water, some in UV light.
Bio or non-bio, all BBs break down.
In fact, when bio's first came out, regular BBs would actually break down faster in the rain.
BB bastards are the best on par right now, just don't get the FRAG line. They're also Canadian.

I always place one of those little moisture eating silica filled bags you get in anything packaged into the bag or bottle right after opening my Bios. This will absorb any moisture an keep it away from the BBs

From what I understand the plastic "deforms" over time unless moved (think paintballs flatspotting)

So you might get a few bbs that are out of round possibly damaging your barrel/hop up/etc.

Almost not worth it.

But it could be a myth to sell you more bbs.

You got to repackage them and sell them as " Blast from the Past" BB's Modern BB's are dysfunctional causing the intended target not to feel the Hit. These 90's BB's are from an time when people felt their hits and called them! Improve your hit ratio with " A Blast From The Past!"
