Keep in mind that a PTW stands for Professional Training Weapon.

Are you a professional and are you training? If not then it may not be for you.

Better yet don't YouTube reviews. Go on reputable sites like arnies airsoft and find reviews there

Although it's a superior platform, a PTW runs off the same basic concepts as any other AEG. It runs the same rounds, and has the same dynamics when pertaining to FPS, safety, etc. One major downside is the cost of course. Not only is the gun more expensive, but magazines and other accessories are as well, including any upgrades or repairs; completely worth it if you have the coin though.

You gotta be carefull with youtube reviews. Most of them are just propoganda easy way to tell is if it is done by or sponsord by the retailer that is trying fo get you to buy it.
Obviously they are going to go on and on about how good at is and overlook the crappyness so you will buy it.

To comment on the PTW is a professional training weapon comment. I guess then we should call AEG's APW's. Amature Play Weapon lmao

But do I have a PTW because I'm a professional airsofter? Or am I a professional airsofter because I have a PTW? =O

And I wouldn't go as far to say most youtube reviews are sponsored, but I would say most youtube reviews are made by people who have NO IDEA what they're talking about.
For example, you have no clout to boast quality internals if you're not a well recognized gunsmith. And you can't comment on the quality of a metal body unless you actually know something about metallurgy.
Worst of all, a single review doesn't mean shit.
ONE person has a miracle gun built by classic army that lasts 5 years stock, or that G&P M16 that I worked on that lasted over 200,000 rounds and 3 years of heavy abuse without breaking anything internally. It's just not an accurate representation of brand or model. Most CA's are garbage, and most G&Ps have gear or piston failure within the first 2 months.
Most infuriating of all, is when they do an "accuracy test" at 50 feet, with mystery ammo, from a standing position.

what pains me is when i see a reveiw about how solid a metal body is and how its just like that real thing.
I had a inokatsu, the body was made of 6061T6, it thats close....
Brands like KA, G&P, WE, VFC and what not all use shitty potmetal

Got it for $279 here in London. But most places are selling for 300-350
Full metal gun
Great Brand
Internals are Great for stock
Lots of options for upgrading if you want
Also doesnt need to be upgraded if you dont plan on upgrading

G&P cast bodies are high quality compared to some others (G&G, CA) still suffer all the disadvantages of being cast, they ARE solid, but all their receiver top rails I've seen are slightly under-sized =/
I would say high quality pot metal, probably the closest you'll get in airsoft without using machined billet lol

I'm going to say its a toss up
The katana is Systema based and could be awesome.
But mags will be trouble some vs the KA which you could make it like my G&P and it'd be a beast.

Well the Systema based internals are arguably a better design than Tokyo Marui style V2 Mechbox. But that being Said a well designed, tuned and built V2 Mechbox is no slacker. Its really a toss up. Though mags for the king arms will be cheaper and easier to find. But something tells me with all the PTW clones hitting the market mags for the katana might not be a challenge.

The Katana borrows the removable cylinder concept from the PTW but it IS NOT a Systema based PTW clone. The Katana has zero parts that are compatible with the Systema based PTW design.

The Katana uses common Marui based: long type motor, gear-set, hop-up, barrel and mags. The cylinders are a proprietary WE design and the gearbox lower is basically a V2 with the top cut off.

edit: WE "KATANA" M4 AEG - YouTube

IMO the success of the Katana will rest on the cylinders. If they have a good air seal and aren't prone to failures then there is a lot of potential there. If the Katana takes off my guess is that you'll see aftermarket cylinders popping up so if the WE ones are shit it won't matter too much. But this being your first gun I would recommend the King Arms because it's tried and true.
