Some Advice?

I sort of got into airsoft.. sorry CLEARsoft because a lot of my friends played it. I became very popular with my M4 AEG from Canadian Tire.. or was it WalMart.
A week or so after buying it, I came on here and realised that Clearsoft was -blegh-. For a year or two though I didn't have any money. Recently, I've done some saving and picked up all my gear (All In DPM (combats, webbing, holsters, boots ect...) because Im British)
I have money left over to pick up a decent gun, we're talking around $300, decent, not the best, but better then clearsoft.

I could probably save up more and buy a way better gun, but I'm under 18, and won't be playing any big games for a while. Just small things in the local yards, and bigger things with some friend a while away.

So in some ways you could say I've done it the other way round, brought all the gear first, and then the rifle.

But I can't decide what rifle to get. I live in the Halifax area,
so really its something at either-

http://thearmynavystore.3dcartstores.com/
OR
http://halifaxairsoftwholesale.3dcartstores.com/

I know I want a sort of AEG M4/M16 like thing for (as previously stated) around $300, but if you think I should wait a little longer, I can probably get up to $400 (but this would HAVE to include the battery).

I play in the local area, so woods and shooting across grass. No CQB.
I know I'm under 18, but I can assure you that me and my friends play very safely.
So I'd really apreciate some help picking out a rifle,
I was leaning towards the SRC SR4 RIS (Army Navy link), I was looking at the Kings Arms Colt M4A1 Full, but I heard Kings Arms has had some magizine feed issues.
Which reminds me, metal would be preferred, unless you can convince me otherwise.

So if any of you can give me a hand, that would be great.
Thanks in Advance.

$450 should be your target (includes battery). 400 at the bare minimum.

It's good to have all your gear sorted out.

I'm going to assume you live in the sticks here so airgun discharge is OK. If you live in the city (or outside the city but are administered by a city) you should note any bylaws or you could face fines (sometimes a warning but can range from $50-500+ depending on bylaw officer and what the local bylaw statutes are). ALSO you should be VERY VERY safe, and make sure no member of the public can see you or in any way possibly pass by. Worst case scenario could be that the ERT is called on you guys and you get arrested or w/e (and charged with bylaw violations if they deem necessary).

Whatever you choose IMO 450 is about the right price point (for gun) for getting into the sport. I'd say 650-750 total (includes gear, charger, other accessories, etc.)

May I ask how old you are though? If 16+ maybe you could ask your local club/field if you can observe or join in. It's a different culture there as opposed to Ontario, as opposed to the Prairies, as opposed to the Pacific coast, and even then there are sometimes small local groups that will let you play. Case in point, "EASY group" (Edmonton AirSoft Youth), is a club of youth who play and AFAIK are somewhat supported by EAR (the local 18+ group) since they run a good club, have a good system, are safe and all that.

Thank you for the info, I shall keep on saving!
Unfortunatly, I'm only 14, but there is a local club that plays with some people that are 13, one of my friends is in it, so I will definatly talk to him.

I can assure you we do play safely, and no one can see us, all the neighbours know that we play, and the only cars that come down the road belong to them, so if by some strange occurence that they did see us, it would't be too much of aproblem.

Thanks again.

TacWolf. I want to personally thank you for the following items:

1) Being upfront with your age.
2) Not writing a post like a spaz (i.e., avoiding texting shorthand, proper English grammar & punctuation).
3) Obviously having read the posting FAQs.
4) Doing your research.
5) Presenting yourself in a mature manner on this forum (especially for someone who is 14).

I think you may be able to get more help than most 17- would likely receive.

Continue to save - a quality rifle, properly maintained, will last years. And look around for some clubs to join. I think most would welcome someone who is mature and disciplined.

He said Halifax in the first post....

Personally if it's run right (like EASY, Lowshotz, or Ambush) I have no problem with playing alongside minors (if they're like TacWolf or 3 or 4 other minors who are respectful, read the FAQ's, and all that). Although there are some times when you just want an 18+ day/night (which is fair enough, just book a private session or have a set 18+ day). I'd draw the line at 24+ hour milsims though. I for one would likely be complaining (a lot) if I was 16 and doing a 24+ hour milsim (at 18, doing a milsim like that, maybe but after my Austria trip I'll just press on, have fun, and get some cool stories to tell people).

Before buying anything, make sure you can actually go out and play in real games. You dont want to spend over 400$ on a fancy wallhanger, do you?

@Tacwolf, I suggest you continue to use your clearsoft for as long as possible while you save. Your investment of $300 will buy you a very low quality or low performing gun, while say $400-450 can get you something solid. Don't be in too much of a hurry to throw your money at a gun and jump in you will regret it.

Just like the fat ugly chick that will sleep with anyone compared to the hot sexy chick that needs a few dates and a couple compliments first. Which would you prefer?

@slink182 -Thanks

@SuperCriollo -Thats true, but a few people who would like to play in my area don't want to spend the money on even getting clearsoft (though they were keen to tell me to get the G36C because it looks cool.) Would be able to use my Clearsoft rifle while I used my 'new' one (and borrow some eye protection of course).

@Eeyore -Sounds like a good idea. My rifle already broke several times, but it should hold up for a few months.

@The Chad -Well, I'm a girl so neither.

Thanks for the advice everyone, its much apreciated. I think I will save up some more money and get a better quality one, but so I won't have to ask this all over again in a few months, once I have more money, what gun from either of the two suppliers would you reccomend?

The underage club in Halifax is, I don't want to say run, but guided very well. They are kind of left to do their own things. Since they have proven themselves mature to the local community, the 18+ members have no problem answering questions for them for guiding them in the right direction.

TacWolf, if you have not already, post up on NSA (www.novascotiaairsoft.ca) as well.

... I should have suspected.

I don't think there's many guys who would actually read the FAQ's before posting (as proven by the weekly "w0t gun am b3st", "eye want 2 bai snipur h0w 2 g3t 1337 h3ad sh00ts frum acros feeld", "wil dis gun get thru costums", and "w0t lazur scoop n 25x mag scoop iz b3st" threads).

I should have known... girls DO mature quicker than boys!

And some boys never really mature!
