Written guides on gun maintenance and information

I've been playing for a couple of months now, I bought a used gun at a show and it turned out to be crap (buyer beware) and I'm looking at getting new ones. I dropped off all my information to get AVed just waiting for it to go through.

I'm wondering if anybody knows where I can get good written instruction on maintenance, care and such for the KWA KP45 and the SRC M4 RIS. I know a couple of sites have the "manuals" but those don't really offer enough info, and I know there are videos out there but I'm better when the information is written down. If anybody knows where I can find these the help would be greatly appreciated!

I learnt the hard way about buying second hand as well. But I know more now than I did then but still would rather to buy new (the prices offered are usually close to new anyways). Would have to be a good deal for me to buy used again.

Excellent link Philly. Their is nothing wrong with buying a used gun. You just have to remember to inspect it and ensure everything works and functions as intended. I prefer to buy local for that reason. I'm the kind of person who needs to feel something and see it with my own eyes before ill buy it.

I would agree DEATH2000 there is nothing wrong with buying a used gun IF you know what you are looking for. This was my problem I was eager to save money so I went the used route and not knowing what to look for, the gun looked good and worked. Then as I started learning more and taking the thing apart there were a couple problems, nothing serious but not stated by the buyer. If I could do it all over again I wouldve bought brand new but what is done is done. As a newbie I would recommend to other newbies to say stay away from used untill you have a better understanding on how the guns work and what you would need to look for. Make your first gun a new gun and learn it. And if you do go the used route I would suggest going with what DEATH2000 said.. Put your hands on the gun (but treat it like a lady . There is a lot you can not see in a picture.

I entrusted buying my first gun used but that was before the major influx of new players and the person selling to me was a fairly reputable gundoc IIRC.

3 or 4 years ago you generally wouldn't have a problem with a used gun and people would usually be willing to do a bit of post sale support (ie. refund for 50% of repairs on gun they sold) but nowadays I would be wary of buying used and only do so from trusted gundocs and what I deem to be reputable players.
