Question Aftermath Broxa for cqb?

what do you guys think(?)

If i downgrade the spring, it has a decent rof with a 9.6 and the downgrade spring should increase the rof slightly, also what power of spring should i swap it for to achieve 330 fps

the reason i chose the broxa is because i bought it new for only one hundred dollars

and i play mostly wood games so i cant justify buying a 300 dollar gun that im not going to use much.

You'll get the same response from almost everyone:

1) Get AV'd, that opens up a lot of options for you and people will be much more helpful. Plus you'll be able to participate in bigger games.

2) Read the FAQ's in regards to rules of the forums and to get a better idea of how this site and airsoft in Canada work in general. Yes there are sections of the FAQ dealing with weapon selection and modification.

3) Don't try and buck the system, the rules are here for a reason. If you have the gun now and your under 18 your gonna catch crap from the larger community, unless you prove you are mature enough to handle it. Even then your age will work against you.

I know that doesn't answer your original question but it is important you understand the rules here. Airsoft in Canada is so well off partly because the largest community is also self-regulated. Don't be surprised if you aren't met with open arms because you have a gun without going through that regulation.

Hopefully this has been helpful, best of luck to you in entering the sport.

*edit* http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...ghlight=Choose hopefully that helps. Easily found through the search engine.

personally if the spring is the only thing you are going to change I would say go with an m90 spring, the aftermath hop ups units are crap as well so you might want to look for a replacement so you can use a normal aeb barrel

but yea m90 or m100 at most in those from my personal experience

Agreed with the M90. Replace the hopup, selector switch & selector lobe (I replace these a lot in my shop) and possibly the trigger switch.

Barrel is ok for CQB where long distance accuracy isn't really a factor, but don't expect much. The rest of the gun is ok at best. I see the Aftermath MP5 series a fair bit in my shop for a variety of issues, the above being the most common.

BUT, seriously, get AV'd or visit one of the site supporting retailers. There's way better out there for what you'd pay for a Broxa/Lycaon plus the upgrades. If you're a tweeker and don't mind spending the time and money needed, you can work wonders with a Broxa/Lycaon but there's way better platforms to start with that would be way cheaper in the long run.

You can also "short stroke" the piston as well to gain a bit of ROF I have heard that removing 3 teeth is a pretty standard. Like others have said, M90 or "1 Joule" spring is also what you're looking for to get < 330 FPS. Then I guess you're done and can just play with it then reassess. If it's good then don't mess with it, if you feel the need for higher ROF then I guess you could run a high speed motor and high speed gears, the spring should be able to be pulled back by that setup especially considering you're running < 330 FPS.

I tried one for all of two minutes and was not a fan other than the speed of the pellets coming out of it.

It also felt cheap and the selector swich was sticky out of the box...I know, what do you expect for 129 bucks...but still

Don't get any crazy ideas about going to the Aftermath M4 knight cqb either. I went that route and am currently in the process of replacing the hop up on it. It was non existenst, they might as well have not even bothered installing one, seriously, it was the shits.

Hopefully once its done it shoots better...

He is not asking for advice on buying guns he is just asking if he should put a part in or not, there's really no need for the A/V. He already has the gun.

The Prometheus M90 would be best, if you can upgrade the motor too since the stock motor isn't very good.

Aftermath should never be purchased as a primary but with some decent parts they are quite enjoyable little guns.

If you are playing woods games with your buddies, your $100 broxa would be fine for you.

If you want to increase your ROF for CQB then yes, you will have to do someting about the spring. Unfortunately, I cant advise you on the exact spring you will need for your Broxa to get your desired ROF. Experimentation might be the key. Have you already taken the spring out? IF you take it to a reputable Airsoft shop, they can measure your curent spring dimensions and spring rate and then advise you one what spring you can purchase.
