I've checked my local Canadian Tire and Home Depot. All the ones they carry contain some kind of petroleum in them

What are you trying to use it with? At Canadian tire, it's called lit-ease and is in the automotive section. I'll use it for some metal on metal and with AEG gears but over time it dries out and is a pain to clean.

For general lubing, you can also use the Ultra Slick Multipurpose Synthetic Grease. Also found in the automotive section at CT.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if Ultra Slick Multipurpose Synthetic Grease contain any petroleum?

I don't want to damage my o-rings!

Use it on the gears, and piston rails. Just use it lightly, it won't get on your orings.

And yet it is safe. Many use it. I've yet to see it eat an oring.

For oring specific lubrication, get some of the sticky g grease from airsoftparts.

edit:

actually, white lithium grease contains petroleum too.

Is there one type of lube I can use to lube up everything other than putting silicone oil into my propane adapter?

Any kind would do. It doesn't have to be lithium grease. Just something I can buy from Canadian Tire or Home Depot or something similar.

Teflon grease can be used safely on o-rings and inside the mechbox, etc But personally I prefer white lithium on the gears. They're like $3-4 for a huge tub, just get both.

Boo to white lithium.

After a while it dries out and takes on a texture that's like a soft crayon...

ARS Molydebnum and Silicon grease for me

You can find silicon grease used in food processing machinery & in brake systems. So if you know someone who repairs the equipment in an institutional cafeteria or a sausage factory you can hit them up.

I've been using "kleen-flo eze slide brake lubricant", came from NAPA auto parts. It soaked on a Systema hopup rubber for 6 months prior to going into a mechbox and there was no swelling.

Can you please provide the name of the grease that you use so I can ask a sales rep at Canadian Tires or Home Depot. I told them today what it was for and asked for something similar to lithium grease...they weren't too helpful.

Unless your talking to a millwright, machinist or hardcore RC hobbyist, I doubt you'll get much help at all lol
Lubricants are a complicated thing
