Guys easy on there.
I don't really think there's that big of a seperation between Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China people. I'm from Taiwan, first generation here. immigrated 10 years ago. Sure we can tell by the accent where you're from just like different English (American, British, Austrialian, Mainland Europe) I don't really notice the groups of people hanging together, than again, I speak to my friends in English even though both of us know fluent Madanrin (All of my chinese friend are from Northern China) and if you really want to ask, over half of my friends are born in Canada and about half are Caucasian.

The thing about Taiwan is that if you play with gun like a kid some mom is gonna yell at you for safety sakes (peoples eyes etc) if you're an adult, by yourself holding a T91 or T65KA2 people will panick, as that's the most common rifle available (All male have to go through 1 year of mandatory conscription, and they'll shoot those. My friend are still issued the old T65KA2 (sadly it was the same rifle my dad's squad are issued when he was conscripted 25 years ago) and that the actual soldier gets T91)

In Japan, there's no civilian ownership of weapon before Matthew Perry arrive at Japan ending the isolationism. As such airsoft aint that bad.

I'm sure in Swiss if you hang an airsoft rifle on your back (safety on, unloaded) no one will panick. The picture shown is an actuall Swiss SIG 550 issued assault rifle (select fire)

In china if you have connection and know some one , then you can play like this:
this is one of those northern china military base my friend play there and.....

however if you don;t know people or don't have any connection this is what you get:

sad thing is even china has way more strict gun control(includ airsoft) law enforcement than canada ,penalty of owning a airsoft is as same as owing a real gun therefor : JAIL TIME!! but the airsoft gun price is still cheaper than here.

Legally in Canada you can carry around a long rifle in public too.

Just not a very good idea since you'll get people freaking out and someone calling the cops on you. Might be able to do it in a small town though.

I'm sure there are plenty of Chinese in Edmonton that aren't from Northern China. Just because you don't associate with them doesn't mean they don't exist.

And whether you have Caucasian friends or not is irrelevant to this discussion.

A few years ago on Halloween, I carried a springer M4 (painted camo) whilst wearing full gear; the cops that drove by while I walked through downtown to my favourite pub didn't bat an eye. Then I helped do "security" at the door with the bouncer, demanding to see "papers"... Then, later, when I sat down to have a burger and beer, the bartender was more concerned about my Kabar than anything else (I let him keep it until I went home).

On the other hand, a couple of years ago someone went apeshit and called the cops when they saw a man with a gun across the street from a junior high school. All it was, was, a guy loading his rifle into the back of his truck before he went out into the bush. No charges laid (I think) but a big kerfuffle.

What does this have to do with the thread? Probably more than a discussion of the social norms of people of Chinese descent living in Canada.
