Depends. You use a standard vertical grip? Do you hold it like a broomstick, or the "thumb break" method?

The AFG is great for people who use the thumb break method. It gives an awesome control of your weapon. But it's not for everyone. It's hard on the wrist, especially at "rest"

I love mine though.

I've always found it more comfortable to hold by the magwell anyways, I've tried normal grips and AFG and I still prefer holding the magwell, even on long guns, the AFG kinda makes your arm and wrist ache after a while, I just find the position unnatural

It supposedly gives you better control over the broomstick way of holding it.

I think I watch Magpul Dynamics too much

And you can still use your magwell if you're tired of the AFG. When running, I hold the gun by the magwell. As well as in close engagements, holding by the magwell is often quicker than holding the AFG. But for steady shots at mid-range, I like the AFG.

I believe the AFG is made to be placed at the complete front of the gun. It leaves you space to hold "normally" between the AFG and the Magwell.

The AFG is an accessory which is specifically designed to assist with shooting a weapon that actually recoils. It is not intended to be comfortable and offers little/no advantage for airsoft.
The only benefit we see is slightly better control when slewing from one target to the next, but only with top-heavy weapon systems.

I have a vert grip on my Scar and an AFG on my 416. I find the AFG quite comfortable and my wrist never hurts from it.

At first I resisted getting an AFG because I thought it was a little to "outer space" looking; but I caved eventually. Now I can't imagine using an AR without it; perfect ergonomics and helps keep a very firm grip.

I personally like the vertical forgrip thumb break "style", with a shorty forgrip.

I don't like how thick the AFG make the front seem, I can never get a propper "omg bring the gun up under pressure" grip.
