Tolerances

Your probably right DA. This is the first ICS gun I've owned. It was always TM, MGC, KSC and WArms gun I owned. When Peter Kang was still alive and sometimes well I used to drool over his ICS collections for sale at Blue Sea Trading. The attitude was "buy the ICS for the metal body and throw in a TM Systema gearbox". I never did buy one at the time because I was using a SR TM and it ran fine and seemed solid enough.
I may go to boot camp this Sat. I'll run both sigs and post anything out of the ordinary if things go bad.
Cheers,
Jason

Sig update

So I ran the ICS Sig 552 outdoors today and found the hop adjuster to be very touchy. Word of advice to myself, once dialed in Don't touch! and less oil.

Distance seemed average with it's short, tight bore. The great thing about this gun is in the field or CQB style scenarios you can easily pop off the upper receiver and switch to a long or short barrel. A very nice touch!

Feeding was good but the odd time It would double feed. Overall it was a positive experience, the gun was solid. I ran a 9.6v 1400Mah mostly fired semi with the odd burst. Both ICS supplied mag and TM standards performed well. I thought my ICS hicap broke but it turns out it was jammed. This was easily fixed buy emptying the mag and working the winder. All ok now.

After lunch break I brought out my TM Sig 552. It's still stock but has a longer Systema tightbore. Gearbox was way smoother with less noise than the ICS. Grouping and range were great. 8.4v 1400Mah very good on full auto and semi.

Cheers,
Ratters

Simple solution to a common problem

Hello again! So as I've written before, my TM Mags worked initially with the ICS Sig.

I got lucky...well, initially. Last night I installed a Systema tightbore and the mags are now not fitting. "ah-ha you say, I told you so"

Well...The problem is that the ICS feed tube (the piece that mates to the top of the mag when the mag is inserted) is squared off at the edges where the TM feed tube is beveled.

The BB retainers in some of the mags tend to over extend. This allows for a flat spot to contact the flat edge of the hop feed tube of the ICS Sig resulting in a next to impossible fit.

I then installed the beveled TM sig hopup unit, shaved the sides of it square where the hop tube meets the body of the ICS upper receiver and voila!

A perfect fit in the upper receiver and the mags are 100% like they were made for the gun.

Try it out, I think you'll like it!

JG mags

Hello again!

I picked up some mags with an order and found they were tight. The front section locked in place but the rear tang that locks in the mag catch was too bulky.
This was easily remidied with a cold chisel taking off about 1mm of material and voila. About a 2min. job for each mag.
Fyi: The JG hop unit is an exact copy of the TM unit which is tapered. These may be easier to source than the TM units.

Another thing I did was removed the washer at the barrelassembly. (when you remove the barrel in the ICS you'll know what I mean).

I found it was binding against the TM hop unit making it more dificult to turn.
Maybe I forgot to eat my Wheaties but it seems more willing to turn know.

Cheers,
Ratters

hello this is my first post so bear with me if some of the questions i have are rather noobish

As my first AEG i purchsed an ICS SIG 552, the reason for this was it looked good, wasn't too pricy, not really heavy and short. now i had read that there were real problems with battery space and i agree which is why i use a peq. I have also bought a silencer from a guy who bought the Classic army P90 but didn't want it, however i did not know that you really need a longer inner barrel with a silencer so i can't use it. so here are my questions.

1. What brand and length of inner barrel is compatible with the ICS sig 552?

2. what 8.4v battery configuration would probably fit in the handguard?(i had found a firefox on evike.com but i'm not sure)

3. MAG brand 100 round mags are what type (winding, spring etc., i can't tell by pictures)

thanks for the help

8.4V wouldn't fit into the handguard without modification. Run a LipO in the handguard, mod the inside of the guard itself, or use external power. Mag brand midcaps are non winding.
