i boycott hicaps and frown on midcaps. theyre a crutch for people who cant aim or dont know the range of theyre gun. spray and pray. i think they show poor sportsmanship and make you look like a lower caliber player, a good player depends on his skill not his weapon and certianly not the amount of ammo he can fling

spoken like a true lader kalnaren -good job

Never owned a hi-cap in my life. Standard caps pmags and king arms 68 rounders.

Actually, the first statement is a lie. Had a hi cap for my p90. Stupid thing was so unreliable though, it never fed more than 10 rounds before completely unwinding. It was more like a below-real cap mag.

low caps and mid caps for the m4 and ak. mid caps for the mp5. depending on the even, I will short load to real cap. for events where short loading isn't allowed and the point system is in place, I'll just use the total allowed mid caps to run with fewer mags but the same total ammo load out.

When I started out playing, I used a hicap. But then it just turned out that I would basically spray and I didn't like that, so I switched over to low
caps and never looked back. I carry 7-8 of them on my standard loadout.
I find that a lot of players don't know how to move up and thus, may rely on trying to hit the target from too far of a distance with the infinite BBs they posses in their hicaps

Back in the "day" I used to run TM Mids AK and I ran 5 of them. Never had a problem with running out of ammo. I also ran a G36 with two mids for a few CQB games, also never ran out of ammo.

Right now, (as Im getting back in) the only AEG Ive got is a CYMA Galil I picked up for my wife. CYMA in all their infinite wisdom made the Galil use unique magazines and nothing but highcaps fit in it. I do plan on picking up a second Highcap for her for (just incase) such as mag malfunction ect.

Im still on the decision phase of a rifle that will suit my tastes (Can't decide between a Masada or SCAR or M4/15/16 Variant) and I plan on using 10 Real caps or Mids loaded to real levels.

Frankly I belive in a 510 round limit for Rifles/Subs. In real operator conditions carrying more then that loaded gets difficult.

We have to accept though that our tastes might not be in line with everyone else in the community and we should adjust our perspective accordingly when we are at games that are not hosted with milsim rules in place. Bitching about the view from someone's pond ain't kosher in my book.

I use 50 000 round mags for EVERYTHING. They weigh a ton though.

Ok low and mid caps are king.

Frankly I love waiting for the highcap player to start that familar winding sound. It means "move up and whack em time"

well I personally field only low cap(55 BB) and mid cap (110 BB) due to gun limitations (only midcaps and lowcap are made for the mp40). I used a high cap once and I quickly realized that a high cap with the constant winding was not great during a firefight. However, sometimes high caps are the only thing made for some AEG (STG 44 ).

It all depends what the game requirements are I have both if a milsim require me to use locaps there are at least 18 lo caps mags for any variant of my AEG/GBB, if it was just fun skirmish I will usually carry 2 hicaps max for the persistent cave dwellers an dthe rest will be locaps.

Back in the day of the crazy HK style of play, I would in any point in time of the game have a minimum of 1 Beta C Drum mags and a minimum of 12 hicaps.

Full auto is for supressing.. semi or short burst is normal. No offense, but if the people you play with hunker down when someone is shooting at them in semi you're playing with a bunch of pussies. Next time someone starts "supressing" you on semi, switch over to full auto and rush them. See how that works out.

That's not using logic its using a excuse to belittle players while you exaggerate. First, where I play there is a lot of brush and getting close to some one is not a smart idea.
If you're adapting tactics to a special field situation, it's an exception. Mass coverage by dense brush that only full auto bursts get through is hardly normal on most airsoft fields.

By no means does that resolve in us not trying to advance flank and pin them. If anyone is constantly firing I would assume from my experiences that they would get shot, no? Maybe the people I play with don't heavy fire like some working adults could afford to do but why not just pick up a sniper and take them out?
While I appreciate you're trying to offer your opinion, you're kinda off base. That's not what happens when you do a skirmish with 10-15 people. By your own admisison you haven't played games with large numbers of players (I'm talking 20+). This is a trend I've noticed in games over the past year or two.

Also, assuming by the comments you're making, you actually don't fall into the "using AEG's as support weapons" group I'm bitching about.

I think there is a balance. I do not agree with people throwing massive mags on small guns, and I agree on having a decent ammo restriction keeping in mind that realism isn't having the same amount of bbs as bullets because as you said its true that they are not equal. In basics you are saying your sick of people not using realistic magazines but you want to play like were using bows and arrows. That's how it comes across from me and whats the point of even using a gun if were in throwing distance of them? its not really realism is it then...
That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying I'm sick of the "everyone has a machinegun" playing mentality that highcaps inevitably lead too.

I called bullshit on the argument that you need midcaps because BB's aren't equivalent to bullets because it's exactly that -bullshit. Airsoft guns have an effective engagement range, and effective situations, just like real guns.. and the "BB's aren't equivalent to real bullets" argument generally stems from people using airsoft guns outside their effective range or trying to blow through shit a BB generally won't go through. What I'm saying is that people should move to somewhere their gun IS effective rather than just try and brute force through something hoping to get a lucky shot.

Personally, I don't run realcaps in my SL9. I use standard mags (50 rounds). I'm not a huge fan of realcaps in skirmishes because I think they go too far the other direction.. but in the same vane, 50 round magazines still limit your ammunition enough that you have to mind your tactics and the use of your gun or risk running dry.

Frankly, if people used hicaps or a shitload of midcaps and didn't play like they had unlimited ammo I wouldn't have an issue. The problem is that I'm finiding people do play like they have unlimited ammo, so they don't bother trying to actually play... games degrade into 'whoever can fling the most BB's at the other team'. Frankly, it's boring.

I should probably clarify..

I don't have an issue with higher capacity magazines per se (I count a midcap as anything 100 rounds or more and non-winding, some "standard" mags hold 80 rounds [TM AUG comes to mind]). What pisses me off is the play style they inevitebly lead too... hosing bunker n00bs who never want to move. "Oh I need more ammo to punch through brush".. Here's a novel idea.. fucking move to where you DON'T need tons of ammo to punch through brush. With lower capacity magazines you can't use that play style. This isn't so much of an issue amoung experienced players who have been using lower cap mags and have a couple of guns with highcaps or whatever -they still know how to play.

It's a problem with players who started with highcaps or midcaps and never moved away from them, thus never learning proper ammunition management and the importance of tactical play, and instead rely on the "wall of BB's" tactics to win the game.

I'd be lieing if I said there wasn't selfish motivation with this rant. I don't like playing with midcaps or highcaps. I love having to reload and actually be careful with my fire. It is, however, incredebly difficult and frustrating playing against or with people who can shoot indiscriminately as much as they want.

I generally carry about 12-15 85 round mags and an 185 round midcap just incase for skirmishes, but I'm switching to 14 130 round mags soon, more because of the poor quality of my old mags than a lack of capacity. Go on about it being unrealistic or whatever but I can't stand having to load in the field or running out of ammo in the middle of a fight, plus I like having extra mags just in case people around me need them. A bb doesn't come anywhere close to having the capabilities of a bullet so its a completely moot point trying to compare them and for skirmishes its about having fun, not being realistic. I've never used more than half of what I carry in any game though, but its nice to be prepared.
