Why does everyone say 'Please Delete'?!

I've seen so many sale threads, that once the sale is completed, they make a new post to say "sold, please delete".

Do people not know that their thread will not get deleted? I've seen it so many times, and it's just pointless and futile.

Unless I'm somehow mistaken, which I'm pretty sure I'm not, since those threads can still be found in the classifieds.

In the past people used to do that and the mods would delete the topic, however these days it's more-so used as a "Don't bother looking here, whatever I had for sale is gone"

This.. is a... joke right?

Mods may scroll over a thread in a list of threads and see that the first part of the first post. They will then see to delete

No, no joke.
Then why do I see a bunch of old sale threads with "please delete" in them?

Maybe so that people don't constantly PM asking if the thing is still for sale?

You can just say SOLD, not expecting your thread to get deleted.

I've seen people post asking if things are still avail in threads that say sold.

Maybe in an effort to bump up that post count of yours, Sellers can message you about their sale completing, you can then go to their thread and type REPORTED and then click "report"

Yes?

What? Are you being rude to me or something? Anyways, yeah I suppose you could get it reported, but that would make a lot of work for the mods and they would have a lot of work discerning between completed sales and threads reported because of other reasons like rule infractions.

Call it rude, call it the truth. Just don't call it late for dinner.

That's there job.

I once asked Lisa about reporting threads to get them deleted in the for sale section. She said no problem.

Once in awhile I report other peoples threads that are 2 weeks old and sold.
