m4 upgrade help

so i have a m4/hk416 mockup i will try and get a picture up later but
i am curious as to what i should upgrade, im not sure if i should get a tighter bore barrel as mine is still a 6.07, also, does length matter? also, i have a version 2 gear box with all revamped parts, dont have a list of gears and all that (will also try to get a list of all parts inside it), should i get a better one or
is it not worth it? as well as sights, do iron sights work the best, from what ive looked at red dots and such are just for cosmetics, and is it worth it to get an all metal body. sorry there are alot of questions, but i am still new to the game and still have alot of questions, thanks for any help.

I assume the gun is working fine right now...?

Why fix what ain't broken? Leave it as it is, and just change/upgrade when the need comes.

That said, a tightbore barrel is a good idea to have better accuracy; take the same/closest length as your original one. A 6.03mm should be best.

You *Might* want to check out the springs, depending on how hard the gun shoot. Under 400fps for outdoor and 350fps for indoor are the most common standard limits.

Tighbore barrels tend to increase fps a bit.

the gun is not working at this moment as either the gearbox or the piston teeth have gone, waiting to hear back from the gun doc

Well whatever parts are broken, you might as well get the upgraded version, as they aren't much more than stock replacement parts. What brand is it? That would help determine what needs done.

Barrel length does matter: if your piston is not big enough for the barrel, the bbs will get stuck inside the barrel or come out at something close to 100fps or less.

+1!!! Have an AK length barrel in an M4 and have to upgrade the cylinder as the vent in it is too big so it doesn't push enough air.

"The piston is not big enough for the barrel"??? Do you mean the cylinder doesn't have the correct volume for the barrel length?
kingbudha, just let us know what your gun doc says, and then advice will be easier to give.

Chances are that his gundoc will provide him good advices, I doubt/hope he'll even need to come back here for more info. At least, he shouldn't have.

And yes, in an ideal world, *Cylinder* volume must match the *Barrel* volume, or can exceed it. But if smaller it won't be as drastic as shooting at only 100fps either.

Anyways, your Doc will Hopefully tell you whatever you need to know
