Aftermath Kraken Stock Battery=POS

Hello everyone.

Well, okay, so when I first got my kraken, I open the box filled with joy. Take out the battery, seems to be alright. 8.4v 1200mAH with a 250mA trickle charger. I charged it up the first time, it lasted an hour. So thats alright. Its been about 1 month and a half and my battery wont even last 2 450 round mags. I am charging it for 5 hours. AND i have a battery discharger so when its about dead, I discharge it, hoping it will increase the battery life. Am I doing something wrong or is it just a POS?.... Should I consider a battery upgrade to a 9.6v or buy another decent 8.4v..?

Not only is the battery a piece of shit, The charger, and CHARGING METHOD are too!

Get a proper charger (Programmable) and a proper battery.

Aright. So a good smart charger and a NIMH battery would be good? 9.6v?

8.4 should be plenty fine.

Okay, but i thought a 9.6v would bost ROF and semi auto triiger response? Also, would a 9.6 be too hard on the stock shim and gears=internals?

hard to say, Krakens are very hit an miss, Some go for years totally stock, Some break within the first 500 rounds. Yours could be anywhere in the middle.

If its still stock, I wouldn't recommend anything over an 8.4

Buy either an Elite, or an Intellect battery, and a higher quality smart charger.

Don't bother with a 9.6

And 8.4 is good enough, all a 9.6 is going to do is wear our your gun quicker.

And I don't mean a "smart charger" like those black or blue boxes that you plug into the wall, I mean a good, programmable charger like a Pirahna or something like that.

Think of it this way; You could spend 60-80 bucks a year replacing dead batteries, or you could spend 100 bucks on a good charger and have your batteries last you 5-6 years.

Okay,, and yeah. I have been hearing quite a a bit on varying KRAKEN reliability. Not 100% with aftermaths products yet. I have put MAYBE 3-4k rounds though it and it seems to be alright, besides the battery. I DO NOT like the quality of the lower receiver. You know when you take off the top receiver and the bolt assembly is reveled? Well when you put it in it slides under these little PLASIC tabs that break easily. Il post pics

Wow those are cheaper than I remember!!

Just make sure you read up on how to properly charge a battery.

The plastic bodies in general are weak, especially those tabs, be very carefully when removing the battery/bolt tray, slide back then up.

A metal body upgrade is also a very good investment.

For what youre going to spend on a metal body for a kraken, why not just buy something better?

True... a full wood furniture set is on average $90 and could get you a $300 gun if you spent the extra $10-$20
