Is a gas gun worth it in Canada?

Is it worth it?
For the weather conditions in BC. (were I live) and the legal problems, is it?

but I was wondering what experience you guys have with gas guns in Canada.

Thanks!

if you've ever fired a GBBR, you wouldn't ask this. Clean yes. its worth it where ever you play.

Well there are no legal problems with owning a gas gun. And from what I've heard the G36 is a very good performer in single digit temps. It may be unusable through the winter months, but in and around summer gaming a GBBR is a blast!

We have damn near the perfect gas gun weather year round. But I like to keep a cheaper AEG back up for those days that it is too cold.

In short, yes. (pistol and rifle)

Re. pistol...it's essential to have when/if you need it. Can you get by without one...sure. You just have to exclude yourself from situations/scenarios when you have to use one (i.e. certain CQB/CQC scenarios, unsafe/wise situations, etc...)

Re. Rifle...they're litterally too much fun to not use. They're not as plug and play "simple" as AEGs...but the fun outweighs any downsides. That said, in cold weather (sub 15C) I run an electric...and always take an electric as a backup. Also...if it's a fun-day-shoot-'em-up skirmish...I might take an electric and a bunch of plastic mid-cap mags. In the multitudes of games I've only had to go to my backup rifle once.

Get out to a firefight where it's mostly gas guns...it's a game-environment changing thing.

I bought a g&g m4 cqb-r and used it once then had internal problems and the mag release messed up

2 months later I bought a tm mp7 aeg, yet again internal problems, wiring. I think I've had enough of problems like that, I've never had a problem either than those. My buddy got a pew, I've shot it, loved it, and knew it'd take a bit more care but I'm willing to do that as long as I can play.

Most importantly with gas rifle; they're really easy to troubleshoot. You see the problem the moment you look inside your gun, and if you carry spare parts you can repair it on the field almost 100% of the time. Sure it's not as reliable as a quality AEG, but the fun of operating one far outweigh the troubles.
It's like they say; when you go GBB, you never look back

I bought a broken SCAR back in December... fixed it and gamed first time in February. I have since sold all my AEGs and have a G36 GBBR.

I had CO2 mags and ran 2-3 BB fill on each cartridge. My friend also had a SCAR and ran 20-rounders on propane without any issues.

So yeah, you can play in winter. If you want VERY good results without any cooldown, you can stuff some hotpaws in your vest with your mags. It will keep them warm and reduce cool down a LOT.

In fact, the G36 has snap mags... you can stuff some in between them (I tape my mags anyway to prevent some tabs breaking).

Recently it's been the other way around. It's too hot outside and the hammer spring has a hard time opening the valves when the mag is hot.

a good alternative is to use MAPP gas. It's similar to propane but can handle itself at much lower temperatures. I've heard people running their GBBRs with MAPP gas at -10 and still works like it was summer. Only problem is that MAPP gas is a little bit hard to find and much more expensive than propane
