ACOG scope for M4

Are there any ACOG scopes that can zoom in? I was browsing through some stores and most of them are only 1x. Any ideas? Thanks guys

Which ones have you seen? the 4X seems most common.

I'm really starting to think I could use a nice variable scope like the S&B short dot myself. Is that more like what you're after?

For airsoft, they make 1x red dot ACOG lookalikes, but you can also get the standard 4x magnification models. Those tend to be more expensive though.

Im looking for either a ACOG or regular RDS (http://gunheaven.com/images/guns/acc...scprd40rgd.jpg) that can zoom, i prefer not to have the really long and slender ones.

You won't find an ACOG with a zoom function. It's either 1x RDS, or 4x.

All the same basic pattern, nothing short and stubby with the look of an ACOG, Aimpoint, etc.

You could also get an Aimpoint, EOTech etc. and combine with a flip to the side magnifier.

The posted links are only examples of the sights, not places I've bought products from by the way, some of these sights can be import or export restriected in their real versions.

Lots of choices in that type. Try before you buy, some have horrible eye relief, others have non moving cross-hairs or dots.

Chinese brands = non-adjustable and/or horrible eye relief

I have a Huang ACOG I got through a trade and it has less than 1" eye relief, as in the space your eye has to be in behind the scope to focus properly is a 1" range, not that you have to be within 1" of the scope.

G&P makes the best 4x ACOG short of the real thing (yes, Chinese, but Hong Kong, not mainland, so in a different category than "Chinese" brands.)

As far as I know ACOG's only have an export ban from the States if they have Tritium in them. Holosights are export banned totally. Aimpoints I'm not sure on. Export ban doesn't mean you wont get it, it means you might not get it but if caught you will also find it more difficult to fly within the US as you will automatically be put on the terrorist watch list for trying to arm terrorists with US equipment. ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that leaves the continental USA that has a ban AUTOMATICALLY lands in the hands of a terrorist, period, end of story. At least according to certain US government policy makers...

Most of those sights are banned from exportation, because like Lutnit said, 100% of weapon sights exported from the US are considered going to terrorists.. lol

And not to mention most are more expensive than even a high end AEG... A real ACOG is in the $1200 US price range, if I'm not mistaken...

Eye relief is critical as you'll be wearing some type of eye protection.

With poor eye relief it means you can't get close enough to see through the tube properly if your goggles are an inch away from your face.

There are over 5 different models of ACOG in my store, try them out before buying.

Just some terminology to help you out here:

By definition a "scope" is a sight with variable magnifacation. If it isn't variable, it isn't a scope. Otherwise its just an optical sight with magnifacation.
