Biggest advantage of TM is quality control, much much smaller chance of a lemon, if any at all.

Dboys all steel series are the best value for the money IMO, I've owned several. Their gearboxes have worked reliably for me for thousands and thousands and thousands of rounds so far, both older versions, and the newer ones with steel bearings and so forth. I have, and always will recommend them as the best value AK AEGs available today. Of course when you see the odd realsword AK for only $500-600 instead of the usual $700-1000, then it could be worth dropping the extra cash, granted that you're happy with a Chinese AK variant.

there's no convincing Amos, he will always be a supporter of TM and its based on his experience, but looking at this thread I see alot of ppl dumping on the clones and jumping on the tm bandwagon and I just had to add my 2cents

Its been a while since I held a new tm but honestly, Plastic is not very solid to me, I don't care how nice you think the fake wood finishnie or how nice and grey that receiver is, its still frigging plastic and that sux balls; I'm not advocating clones exclusively over tm either, obviously RS and VFC etc and better, but for ak's tm is the bottom of the pile for me

As for aftermarket parts fitting, why do ppl feel that they must upgrade when a stock dboys box already has a nice fps and good airseal especially with element hopups (oh god no cheap brand parts!) so I don't know why this should be an issue
I really wish I had my team mate's Dboys AK here so I could add some picture proof to what I'm saying.

I honestly think you're judgment of a TM has been skewed by krakens and all the other cheap shit plastic guns.

Dboys don't get good airseal at all... Every Dboys gun I've worked on so far has had major compression issues from the cylinder head to the nozzle... I don't have a way of measuring the air loss through there... but I can tell you it is at least 20 times what comes out of a TM

I'm not saying TM is THE best AK out there,

The list goes like this;
Realsword
CA/VFC
TM
Cyma
Dboys
Kraken

You have to remember with all these cheap "Metal" guns... Lead is a metal too

So where would you rank the G&G - RK47 ? Just curious.

Full Wood and Metal goodness. 8)

I only owned it for a short time, but it seemed like a very nice gun to me when I had it.

Very nice guns, but not compatible with anything TM externally.

Classic Army AK's now come w/ LCT stamped steel receivers...LCT being a supplier for INOKATSU = outstanding quality.

personally I think the wood on the G&G looks worse than the fake wood on the TM lol. Its not the right finish on it at all and makes it look like arse.

For the price, I still would say that TMs aren't really worth it... Their plastic is decent, and the parts where you actually touch to operate the gun is decent, but really, it's still second rate; the internals can still take moderate aftermarket parts with minimal modification.
as to DBoys... Well, I've only ever handled the externals briefly, so I can't say much about them, they felt pretty decent though, as far as I could tell... But the internals are horrible, and as a personal preference I wouldn't touch one. (I bought a DBoys mechbox before just for the safety switch). But they are 70 bucks and most of them will probably run for a year of heavy play, so =/ is it worth it? Probably...
for the amount of $$ these two guns go for, I still would say go for the CA

EDIT: I should say, this is only based off of the assumption of prices I see on the classfields... which is 400-500 for a DBoys, and around 400-600 for a TM.
Hell, there is a VFC for 600 right now.

Oh I always forget about VFC, they make nice things, and now that CA is using LCT receivers that's a super extra bonus.

G&G goes inbetween TM and Cyma :P

The non-cansoft versions are fairly decent for the price, internally they're compatable with everything... but externally G&G did their own thing.

But you get G&G's sexy sexy bolt. A solid chunk of metal sounds nice returning to battery. It would be more awesome if you can find a stronger spring.

TM AK's don't have a very large stock, I think they scaled it down or something but as soon as I slapped a wood kit on it felt way better to be with long arms.

Can get an ICS bolt for that, it's easy to mod on. Do agree though, G&G made a nice bolt.

Chances are the wood kit is oversized (unless you put an AKM or AK74 stock on your gun),
AK47 butt stocks are surprisingly small.
