Hey guys got a quick question about airsofting in Kananaskis.

Me and some buddies who are semi-serious airsofters were planning on heading up to camp and have a few games in Kananaskis country sometime in spring. We've done this once before but are still kind of concerned about the laws. When we went up the first time we let the park rangers take a look at our stuff (it's all the G&G canadian stuff) and told them we'd be using bio-bbs and they weren't too concerned, all they told us was to make sure we were at least a few kilometers away from any other campers and to not alarm them with the guns.

We were wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if so could you let us know all the legal details (who you talked to before hand, whether your guns were "Canadian" style or all black, where exactly you went).

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Not a good idea even if the park rangers said it was OK.

Reason being is that park rangers aren't the ones contacted when someone calls about "some guys running around with fully automatic omfg machine gun sniper assault rifles", it's the ERT team that gets the call and they won't know if you and the park rangers had any past deals about when and where you were allowed.

Also not to mention about people who may be in the area doing an "off piste hike" and chances are they won't have eye protection so a stray round has the potential to hit someone and even at velocities as low as 80 FPS (and sufficient energy) or something you can still get eye damage. In short even if they do say yes it's still not a good idea at all.

EDIT:

PS: Apparently some of the rangers are packing heat that is way hotter than you guys have (ie. real steel) and if something happens in communications that not all of the rangers on duty know you guys are playing with airsoft there is a chance you may get shot by a jumpy ranger.

With all due respect stick to designated fields for outdoors please. Too many times have people had bad experiences with this type of this just cause they didnt go to the right places.

Since you are located in Calgary, you should link up with other players in town on http://jocairsoft.com/forums/, if you aren't already on there. Check out the calendar, there are lots of games starting up in spring (and a few planned prior to that).

I completely understand, but my friend's cabin is pretty large (maybe 7-8 acres) and we've been playing there for almost a year with no problems. he's let all his neighbors know what we're doing so there's pretty much no risk.

On the designated field topic, are there any indoor facilities in Calgary? (other than laser trek... ugh...) and are there any airsoft-only fields in Calgary?
