Read around, The 5.7 is illegal. I've taken the liberty of emailing CFC at one time inquiring about it. It is classified as prohib cause of "it's use as a armour piercing round". So, it doesn't matter if you put a hollowpoint or a AP round. It is still deemed illegal...

I didn't say they were the same thing. I was just talking about powder in general. However, thanks for pointing that out to other less experienced members.

err since when exactly? Civi variants of the P90 (which uses the 5.7 cartridge) are available for sale, and use in Canada.
Since when? I've got an account on CGN and I assure you I've never seen the PS90 (civilian semi-auto P90 variant). Maybe some people with a prohibited endorsement have touched on one but I doubt they are available. Only time you will probably see one is if JTF2 does a raid or drug bust near by...

Well shit, better run over to CGN and tell the PS90 shooters there that they need to destroy all their ammo right now! Not to mention the CF's 90s are not PS-90s, they are the real deal.

having an account on CGN doesnt' mean you know jack shit about firearms and its laws.

only a one or two PS90 and FS2000 made it in Canada. thats because the USA won't let you Export them. 5.7x28 is not a prohibited munition. its the one that is armor piercing that is.

back on track.

get your PAL and buy some .17hmr. its probably the closest thing you can get.

PS.I have some empty 5.7x28 brass casings. I picked them up at the range I went to while i lived in Halifax. the fishing and something agents came to that range and fired their P90's there. the casings all fell in little piles because they are ejected from under. i can get you guys a pic of some of the casings.

Read around? I've been handling Restricted and Prohib guns, even teaching with them, for longer than you've been alive. How many years have you studied the subject? 5 or 6 since you turned 18?

Do you own a firearm in the Restricted or Prohibited class? Which one?
Have you ever reloaded your own ammo? Which calibers?

Have you ever used a flintlock? Black powder is an explosive, not a propellant. Mess with that and you die.

There's reading, and there's doing. That is when you learn the difference. You seem to have a lot of book-based knowledge, and that is fine up to a certain point. Maybe you should get out to a real gun range to learn the practical side of things. It's far from the same, and in some cases it can mean a lot more than being told about it. It can mean your safety and that of the people around you.

So far much of what you have said is incorrect, and I'm not alone saying that.

Arman, what I said is that they DO look at, and scan, packages inside Canada. Not as often as those coming across the border, but they look more than people know. If that is what you meant, sorry. I thought you were saying they never looked.

The flame was for Digital Blue, who painfully needs to inform himself before giving advice. Specially when the advice can cause severe injury.

To create fake bullets, you need: Empty casings, the bullets, a reloading press, skill.
To disarm live rounds you need: A bullet puller, a bucket of liquid WD-40, time to let the primers get destroyed by the WD-40, safe disposal of the powder, and a reloading press plus the skill to remove the dead primers and put the rounds back together.

When dealing with real guns and real gun parts/ammo, never take stupid risks or guesswork. Ask someone who knows their stuff. You dont 'respawn' from those injuries.

There's enough people here who DO know their stuff, ask them instead of quoting things you 'read' someplace.

I'd like to add this to Grey's post:

If you're not experienced with live ammo, do not try and create your own fake / dummy rounds. If you do not have the proper tools, do not try and create your own fake/ dummy rounds. It may cause you serious injury and even death.

ASC is not on your side if you try and do that.

Yes, please, I dont care if you feel like ignoring all the FAQ or advice in the world... dont screw around with things that can blow your brains out just with the primer alone.

Skill IS required. This normally takes a course.

Even worse for blackpowder rounds which can go off simply by a static electricity discharge. Now you know why powder horns were never made from steel. I'm sure it took a few craters for folks to get the hint.
