There's lots of great advice here already. But here's some food for thought. If you get an M4 and still want to snipe later, all you have to do is change the front end and you go from M4 for SPR! Not too many other platforms that will allow you to go from assault rifle to sniper rifle. Easier on the wallet too.

Actually a real man would get an MP40 or a Thompson go WWII airsoft...

But having said that I would add that a TM M14 would probably satisfy your needs, as would the other guns listed above.

Like women, your first love will not likely be your last.

I would say an M16 is a good starter gun, because it's the same platform as the M4 so there's infinite upgrades for it. That means you can slap on a shorter barrel and retractable stock for CQB, but still have the option to switch back to the 20"+509mm outer+inner barrel for outdoors. Just make sure you have a fair bit of money set aside for upgrades, or a source of money for upgrades, or you'll find yourself frustrated and tortured like a hormonal teenager locked in a bathroom at the Playboy mansion.

you can do the exact same thing with AK's too, I usually keep 2-3 different front ends, Regular AK47 length (456mm), Beta-Spetz length w/MP5 tightbore (230mm), and a mid length one as well with an M4 length systema tightbore (360mm), you just have to remove 4 body screws (i only use 2 tho) and change easily

Indeed. There's a reason I'm chaning mine over to M4 mags

A box of midcaps costs like 50$ for five, plus shipping. That's not too bad. It's only expensive if you want dummy rounds in your mags.

Edit: There's always the magwell converter, so that you can use m4 mags.

CYMA AKs-74u is a Great gun, and for only 400$, awesome starter gun. Also defiantly small enough for CQB, and has the range and accuracy for Outdoor.

Nice but another bear to find magazines for and to carry said magazines.

Airsoftparts.ca on here might have just got a few in though (it's the fake bullets that wreck the deal).

I love it. The thing is a terror in CQB. Very small and mobile.. floating barrel makes it quite accurate. Contrary to what a lot of people might say, it's also really competant for outdoor play, especially with a tightbore and shooting a little hotter with heavier ammo. The version 6 mechbox is a dream to work on too compared to other versions. The gun is small and light as well. I'd say the only real disadvantage is the larger mags. Even then the JG mags are available in the classifieds for under $30, they're just large.

I put an EoTech on my tri-rail version with a SOCOM supressor and it looks awesome. Definetly one of my favorite guns.
