TM SR16, spring not releasing

Hello every one,
yesterday I took apart my mech box to install a PDI 170% spring and sysema metal bushings. every thing went smoothly untill i got the gun back together and tested it. the spring cocks but does not release, and when i pull the trigger again, it pushes the spring back and makes a clicking sound but still does not release the spring. I check the shimming and the gear timing and neither seemed to be the problem.
any sugestions are welcome (sending it away to a gun doctor has already been sugested)
thanks,
Joe

^^if the batery is good, read on^^

When you checked your shimming was the mechbox screwed back together?

Leave the spring/cylinder/piston out and put everything back together. Tighten the screws and then test the shimming. That little bit of extra force that the screws put on the mechbox makes it a bit tighter and can really jam the gears. This was my first mistake when doing my mechbox.

Version 2's are a bitch to work on as you have to put everything back together just to test it.

timing.... make sure that the little knub on the sector gear is at the 1 o'clock position when putting the box back together.

thanks for the replys guys.
Ill try putting the screws in when im shimming it.
i found it anoying to try something, and put the whole mech box togeather and put it in the body and put the grip on and put the motor in, just to find out that some thing else was wrong... :banghead:
but it seems that the problem is the shimming, seeing as my battery is pretty much charged, and i timmed the gears right.
and way, thanks,
Joe

You dont need to put the mechbox back in the gun to test the shimming. Just assemble the 2 halves and spin the gears by hand.
Then when you know, do a final assembly, timing, and install in the gun.

alright, after trying about 10+ times to shim it right, i gave up and sent it in. partly because I wanted it for the week end, and partly because i have had a nonworking gun for the last two weeks.
so, thanks for the help every one, but it looks like the 'send it in to some one who knows what they are doing' was the best option. but I have learned alot from taking apart the mech box 10+times.
thanks again,
Joe

Your sector gear is set one tooth too far to the right. That is exactly your problem there. Need to lift it, turn it a millimeter to the left, then remesh it into the gears. Saying to set the nub at the 1 O'Clock position will give you three options, all one gear tooth away from each other: Too far advanced (to the left of correct, causing the nub to actually touch the tappet plate), correct (about 1mm of space between the edge of the nub and the edge of the tappet plate, and too far retarded (is what yours is, too far clockwise, leaving 1.5-2mm of space between the nub and the tappet plate.... causes the piston to get pulled back, but it jams at the full rear position and won't release. Need to release the anti-reversal latch to release it, or carefully open the mechbox and reset the timing properly.)
