m14 firing full auto only

my g&g m14 max series started to only fire on full auto even when the selector is in the semi auto position. it threw me off cuz i rarely go full auto and i was sniping out someone on a roof from cover and i thought it was in the right spot but no matter what way i change the selector it was full auto so i had to be very short and crisp with the trigger and even then it would still let a 2-3 shot burst out.

Your cutoff lever could be worn or stuck. Open up the gearbox and inspect the lever.

i looked at the control lever and it seems fine. because i dont know a lot about the mechanics of them i didnt try firing it while the body was off it. its like with some pump shotguns if u hold the trigger in a sweet spot u can just pump it as fast as u can and it will fire as quick as u pump

The cut off lever is situated inside the gearbox, most likely you'll have to open it to see if it is busted or not. Just because you did put only about 2000Rnds through it doesn't mean it can't break.

Cut off lever on an M14 is on the outside of the gearbox. The M14 COL's don't bust, they wear down and become ineffective.

OP: If you could post pics of the lever, that'd help

I'm sorry, that's not an M14.

That may be your problem.

I've never seen that kind of wood kit on a M14 before.
