Not to be outdone by the new guys who set their radios to VOX, and all you hear is an open mic with heavy breathing interspersed with "OMFG, they're all over, I'm taking heavy fire."

I personally think new guys should not have radios, or there should be a noob channel.

Once, when my team first started using radios, we were stalking around in the bush looking for something to shoot. A teammate spots a few guys to our left and radios to me. Forgetting I have a radio, I yell back at him. "Well lets fuckin get em!". So, we fucking got em.

They're extremely handy, but can get easily confusing at the same time.

Only the SL and his 2IC should have mics in a squad and a SL should have a dual channel radio or 2 radios for comm between the squad and the HQ

Guys, to say noobs shouldn't have radios is, imho, a really stupid statement. No offence meant but still...

Most people stress on the fact that radios are a must, just the same as having a decent gear. I myself is new to the sport, and am currently on the market for a good radio and comm gear. Why? Tired of running around without knowing what's going on and what to do to really help my team. This I realized on my very first game.

Now if you're saying noobs shouldn't have radios because some don't behave correctly: "vets" should understand that some noobs need a period of adaptation and learning to do things correctly. It's up to you, vets, to either live with it or teach those noobs how to do things. I'm sure most, if not all, of you went through the same path before.

The paradox in your sayings:
Most are against the soccer mom concept right?
They do just that: prevent people from hurting themselves or others because of fears.

Preventing a noob of using a radio because he don't quite know how to use it yet, is just the same thing.

It's not hard to learn good communication procedures. Teach them once and you won't get problems anymore.

However, if a particular player os messing around, that another story, and should be dealt on a case by case basis.

My 2cents. I think radios should be mandatory for all players. The same as having a working Aeg
