Should my TR4-18 use its stock battery?

So I'm confused, I was looking into my G&G TR4-18 on redwolf airsoft and they said you should only use a 7.4 volt battery but mine came with a 9.6v and on airsoftgi they say 9.6v as well. But now on another sight I've found they say it uses a 9.6V NiMH Butterfly/Nunchuck or 7.4V Li po Butterfly. So why is this? Am I safe using my 9.6 NiMH and is Li po more high powered but its lower voltage matches the 9.6 NiMH?

You're absolutely fine to use the 9.6v NiMH in that gun. Butterfly just refers to the shape/style/configuration of the cells in the battery (different styles are used to fit in different types of spaces) it doesn't effect anything else.

Lipo's are more powerful per size of battery than a NiMH. A 7.6v Lipo is roughly equivalent to the power output of a 9.6v NiMH battery, they will have similar trigger response and ROF. LiPo's require more involved care and charging procedures than NiMH. LiPo's tend to be much harder on your trigger contacts because of the high output.
