newb fps question

Hi everyone

I recently decided I was done with paintball, and so I'm getting into airsoft
last week I bought my first gun, a Echo 1 M4 Platinum.
From my understanding it shoots a little hot out of the box, around 410-425 fps
most fields seem to have a 400 fps limit, I know I need to change the spring but not much beyond that
so TL;DR my question is what spring is currently in the gun? and what one do I need to replace it with to get under 400fps?

I hazard a guess at a m120~ spring, or an m110 if the airseal is really really good. If the components around it have a really shitty airseal, could be as high as m130.

Safe bet is m100 which should be 360ish

gambling that you could go over 400 still, you can try a m110.

First the fps listed on the box can be way off so...
shoot about 300 bbs through the gun to settle in the components
then get it chrono'd in the flesh
and then watch lots of disassembly videos on you tube
and then look at illusions spring chart (under news/info above)
and then change spring or get someone else to do it
and then re chrono it
and then your either happy or starting over
and then wait for your first part failure

M110=375 ±10fps m120=400±10fps m130=425±10fps
m110 is yer best bet to keep it below 400

I wish it was that simple, but it depends on the manufacturer, i have found a king arms m110 spring to be equal or a little more powerfull than a Systema m120. theres no sense throwing numbers at this guy without including a manufacturer

If you have a minimum FPS you want to put as a base, that would be helpful.

For example, I could say that a Lonex M90SP could put you under 400 FPS, but it would also put you under 320 FPS (Or at least for me).

What are you ideally aiming for? While you answer that, keep this in mind: FPS is not the most important thing. If you want accuracy, and range, FPS is not the largest factor in either category.

This is what i was lookin for
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/SpringChart.php
And yes my suggestions wer in a perfect world where springs wer labled with m meaning meters per seccond. I know there is some variances form brand to brand.
Illusion put many to the test back in the day his chart is helpfull

Edit i see rusty pointed him to the chart alrdy. Guess it would help if i read the whole thread lol

get it chrono'd first. you might be fine. if not run 1000 rounds or so through her doing a little target practice. then chrono again. alot of guns will lose 10 fps or so pretty quick as they don't always come with a high quality spring. i had an echo1 p90 that was supposed to be same fps as yours. i only got around to checking after playing a few games but she clocked in around 390...

I have a Element M95 spring, that always give 380 ±5 fps on two different guns... Not sure if that is a wrong package or that is just Element M95 spring.

Should be noted, you gotta use .2s to chrono. Using heavier ammo doesn't lower your muzzle energy.
But I bet you already knew that
