Alot of Classic airsoft guns do. Same with the Escort System.

Hardly. In fact gas grenades' use of CO2 is infinitesmal compared with use in guns. While classics have fallen out of favor with most players you'll find a small and very dedicated user base that prefer the uniqueness and other benefits (such as a better and more intimidating sound) versus AEGs.

I own two classic gas blowback guns, both of which are extremely rare in Canada. I had put both up for sale at one point or another, but have come to my senses and I'm keeping them now. I do own AEGs and use them more often, but there's no denying the unbelievable awesome factor these guns possess. Squeeze the trigger and you're greeted with nearly as much recoil as a real gun thanks to the heavy reciprocating bolt. Just don't crank the pressure too high; that breaks stuff. Ask me how I know.

My Youth Engineering MP5A2. It has been custom fitted with a real HK slim foreend and a custom made (and very rare) SEF lower from a JAC MP5. I know of only one other MP5 configured like this in the world and that one is in Hong Kong.


This is my Sun Project M16A1 carbine. It's been heavily upgraded with stainless steel internals, a real collapsible buttstock and buffer tube, real A2 pistol grip, and a few other things. I've hit a moving target at 50 yards with this gun on semiautomatic with only three shots and PHX .28s. A real pleasure to shoot.

Due to the regulator, they chrono whatever you want, just like a paintball gun!

That's true. Although 400 fps out of these particular guns is setting a very high mark that you cannot do with a stock rifle without damaging it. It is achievable in either gun but you need some serious upgrades that cost a small fortune (steel bolt carriers and that kind of stuff) and it isn't really necessary. I get around 350-360 fps on 140 psi with the M16 and that makes it good to beyond 50 yards.

Both guns have fixed hop. They are typically meant to be used with a certain BB weight only. The original Sun Project M16 was tuned to use .28g if I'm not mistaken. Luckily Xtreme Tactics brought in a pile of PHX .28s and after running a bottle through a few different guns, I cleaned them out of everything they had. Adjustable hop mods are available but I haven't seen the need for it; this thing literally SAILS rounds downrange.

I will say this, classics are finnicky. Much more so than AEGs. Even if you get one in working condition you can expect to do regular maintenance on it that will cost you more than an AEG will. All depends on whether the benefits are worth it to you.
