My local field in Ottawa sets their limits to 400fps for AEGs and 450 for bolt action because the legal documents the owner and his lawyer set out. Basically for insurance purposes to save the owner's ass and make the players responsible for their own actions.
That's a BS excuse they give to people. There is no official laws about airsoft fps... Only the firearm law of 500fps AND 5.7joules. AEG can barely classify if they go higher than 700fps.
