Also, with airsoft the majority of the noise is coming from the gear box / piston and not the barrel, so you won't notice a dramatic change in Db sound output, but perhaps a slight change in the type of sound omitted.
Actually, after consulting with the CBSA Prohibited Items Unit in Toronto last week, mock silencers are not restricted.
The reason a silencer is restricted is that it muffles the sound of a firearm. A mock silencer doesnt do this, there for it isnt a silencer.
Atleast according to the CBSA.
