Thanks for the useful solution. Its still useful to have a gauge so that you don't have to waste a bunch of propane to find out the tank is bad.

OT- I've tested many of the Coleman propane tanks (16.4 oz) at my local Canadian Tire using the gauging tool and found that none of them had an over-pressed O-Ring.
