HS5 actually came up with evidence that the BB rides at the top of the barrel, that is why a smooth and quality barrel is important, any defect at the top of the barrel will deflect the BB and it will bounce on the sides of the barrel, altering the BB's backspin and lowering accuracy. According to this hypothesis, the longer the barrel, the bigger the chances that the BB will encounter a defect along the way, which is why longer barrel tend to lower accuracy and shorter barrels tend to have the BB fly up higher before stabilizing on a straight line.
Keep quiet. Sound travels faster than BBs.
