The silencer is used for holding a longer (longer than the outer barrel) inner barrel in this case. You will get some FPS increase by using a longer and tight bore inner barrel (however spring changing is more common when trying to achieve a certain FPS), but you will have to start from a standard AEG rather than a AEP, to get a reasonable performance at first.
