It's no different from using a visible flashlight at night games. You can see the light, but not anything behind it.
However it's worth stating that it's actually dangerous to use high powered IR lights at games. Just because you don't SEE the IR light, doesn't mean it's not damaging your eyes. Same goes for IR lasers.
It's happened to me working on an M75 APC. Somebody was testing the IR lights while I was working on a headlight. Seans flips them on and asks if it works, I ask "why does it suddenly feel like I was looking at the sun?"
