This --^ is more likely the case.
An airsoft "interest group" might have found a way to purchase it, but a facility of that size would require $HUGE$ to make it safe/secure for airsoft (glass/toxic chemical remediation, etc.) and for ongoing minimal maintenance. It's the ongoing $$ that would torpedo the venture for our notoriously cheap community of airsofters. You'd have to have very deep pockets
or host a shit tonne of games every week
just to stay out of the red ink.
