Exactly, they are rolled steel pins. What you need to do is as coachster said above, your best bet it to find an allen key that has a diameter less than the hole but great than the internal diameter of the hollow pin, and use that to tap the pins out.
Or, go and invest in a good set of punches.
Either way, I would only remove the front sight if you have to, ie you are replacing it.
Also be sure to support the entire barrel and the front sight, so it doesn't try to rotate as your are tapping the pins out.
