Deans to Tamiya adapter?

Hey all I have yet another dumb question lol.

My buddy picked up an M4 with a crane stock, it has deans plugs, the wire on the bat was all worn and broken in two places, the question is would it be a bad thing to leave the gun as is and just make or find a adapter tamiya to deans then he could use most bats say in a bat bag, or will the extra bit of wire and miss matched plugs really effect the orperation? i dont think its would be a huge issue as guys use adapters like this for R/C's and lotta chargers charge diff bats with adapters like that too

thanks in advance.
also anypplace in etobicoke to buy the lil connector bits to build said connector or should i kill some old bats and chargers to make it up?

You could do that, but Tamiya is a pretty mediocre plug. You'd be better off with a deans-wired battery.

If I were you, I'd just get some deans plugs and rewire the batts. It's pretty easy; anyone with a soldering iron and some google-fu can do it.

ya i got the soldering ability and such was just not wanting to do something dumb lol, mainly he wants to test out the gun we have no charger for a deans and the bat is a mess anyhow, so i was thinkin he vcould just use one of my bats if we had an adapeter for now, seems like thats what ill do for now, plus i thin k the bat i seen at army issue was tamiya so thatll work for the mean time.

thanks!

You can just use alligator clips to charge the deans. That's what I do. :)

or hey, maybe make an adapter for the charger!

Convert all of your batteries to deans. they are the better option over the large and mini connectors. Plus, if you ever play the same games I'm at, I usually have spare batteries in deans. lol

Ya i know deans is the new norm theese days, my m4 is in bits and my kraken dont need deans, i use a BA so im not too woried about goin deans just tryin to get my buddy gun runing for now lol, thanks again for the info, anyone know a good spot to pic up the plugs and stuff in the gta, cause last i checked we dont have radio shack and the source, well they need to source some more stuff lol

And, as a bonus, having a gun deans-wired is a plus when you try and sell it.

Hectic March 28th, 2011 10:27

thanks again all for the info, still would like to know where to get the connectors if anyone knows

ya i seen lots online i was thinkin walk in grab a few odds and ends when needed without having to wait delivery lol i think the toys for big boys guys may have them the do alot of rc's n stuff

THe_Silencer March 28th, 2011 10:33

If you have decent soldering ability you can make your own deans to tamiya converter. Useful to have around.

Hectic March 28th, 2011 11:23

gonna make two, one tamiya charger end to deans bat end and one tamiya bat end to deans gun so he will be able to charge and use any bat lol

you're in Toronto right? so is airsoftparts.ca! his board name is Jugglez. PM him a request.

as well, there are lots of brick and mortar hobby shops around the GTA.
John's Hobbies
Hornet Hobbies
Advance Hobbies

and that's just to name a few.

wire it to deans. saves fucking with the large/mini shit. got pissed off at one point and swapped everything i had to deans.

any rc supporting hobby shop should have 'em. i get mine from a model plane store. (they sell lipos too witch is ever so convenient:) )
