Classifieds rules update

Updates to the classifieds rules have been posted. Be aware or be sorry.

Une mise-à-jour des règles pour les petites annonces a été posté: prenez le temps de lire les règles.

Deadpool February 12th, 2013 11:35

Since I didn't know the rules by heart before...What was changed?

Hectic February 12th, 2013 11:53

there short may as well just read em.

I believe one thing that changed is that you cannot post until 7 days is up. This is now software controlled and the site won't allow you to post until the 7 days is up.

I hope lots of people read it and see that you should not remove the price when the item is sold.

bean February 12th, 2013 12:54

Most recent rule is rule number 5

Doc February 12th, 2013 14:31

hopefully rule 3 will be enforced a bit more strictly. i cant tell you how much it pisses me off when i go back to get the price on something and someone just replaced it with **SOLD**

I second that.

The rules are there for a reason. The post dosent "die" when the sale is done. Some of us use this info for research and such.

While it's nice to be able to look things like that up, as a seller, I don't think it's particularily my job to provide you with the value of your item.... I do feel rule 3 is dumb, but I don't make the rules. I feel this way because I know many people look through an ad for the price as a means of determining if the item has sold or not.

If you post an item and you have 12 idiots b*nana bumping their 3 threads then your ad gets bump to the next page and no one sees your ad for a week. The rule is their for a reason. I don't need you to bump your ad to tell me it's sold.

And thank you Bean for the answer to my question.

I look for fair market value in the sold items.

He will after a ban or two, the I fraction for breaking this rule does carry points, which on a second failure to follow bumps up to a 1 week ban.

Ayashifx55 February 15th, 2013 16:34

The problem i think is, because elitist doesnt want any record/history of how much they sold the guns for. So they usually like to replace with a banana / sold. Plus being elitists, usually makes you think "I do not need to read the rules".

Just my thought.

FirestormX February 15th, 2013 17:01

I'm confused about why this is being blamed on elitist attitudes? It bugs the crap out of me when people edit out their prices, but I've never associated it with an elitist attitude.

leecas February 22nd, 2013 17:04

I agree that the seller should not remove the price he was asking for when an item is sold but that doesn't mean that the price they have listed is what the item(s) sold for. He could have something listed for $500 but if he took less... you will never know what the item really sold for. So, just remember that it's the asking price... not the sold price.

Double Tapper March 5th, 2013 10:43

I don't get this "Elitist"crap either. I just go through the current
for sale threads to judge on prices,as Leecas says, the actual
sold price could be different. So after it is sold,it may not be
accurate.

Deadpool April 5th, 2013 18:03

This needs a bump.

Some guys have 3 or 4 threads for guns that were started after this thread was posted.

Read the rules people!

Report them then. That gets the mods attention and they will disappear fast.
The mods can't sit and stare at the screen all day, we have a part to play in moderation too...

Speaking of changes/threads in the classifieds, just curious to know if I'm the only one that can't post a reply to someone's thread by clicking the post reply button....

J-Man19 April 29th, 2013 00:23

I seem to have found a flaw in the software limiting bumping. I recently edited my thread (added what I would accept for trades) and was not able to bump my thread for a week. Editing the thread does not bump it. Can someone look into this?

Not a flaw we designed it that way bumps are only allowed once a week.

J-Man19 April 29th, 2013 15:29

I understand that but when I edited my post it didn't bump it.

That's the point. You have one bump a week, and that's it.
Editing to bump WOULD be a flaw, not the opposite.

That's right.. Editing your thread does not bump it.

Tex April 29th, 2013 16:29

I think he is saying that it was counted as a bump by the software and stopped him from actually bumping for an extra week.

J-Man19 April 29th, 2013 16:51

exactly

J-Man19 April 29th, 2013 16:52

edited my thread then went to bump and was not able.

the edit was counted as a bump without actually bumping the thread.

K3vX April 29th, 2013 17:10

Ahh, that makes more sense. Does sound like something's broken now, sorry for not understanding right the first time!

You may have bumped slightly early; the system counts the delay between bumps in minutes (7 full days' worth).

J-Man19 April 29th, 2013 21:54

Was a few days overdue on bumping.
I don't care that I wasn't able to bump, just pointing out an issue I found with the automated system.

It sounds like you weren't actually doing an edit. Are you certain you didn't hit "Quote", rather than "Edit"? There is a difference, and you are allowed to make edits to existing posts at any time.

If I get him right, he wanted to edit his post then bump it, because the last bump was more than a week old. However, editing did lock his right to bump his thread, while at the same time keeping the thread not bumped.

Am I right?

I just read through it again, and it sounds like he wanted to edit his post, then bump it, but was prevented from bumping, because it was still within 1 week.

So, in the end, it sounds like the system was working exactly as it should.

When we did allow early bumping, you have no idea how many guys abused this. They would make bumps every 4 hours to add the smallest little details, with the excuse that the updates were deemed important and necessary.

J-Man19 May 1st, 2013 00:32

Illusion you are correct except about bumping before my 1 week wait. I was 1 day overdue on bumping and should have been able to bump.

I'll try again after my next bump due date to make sure I am indeed past the 7 day time limit.

Are you absolutely POSITIVE that you were in to your 8th day since your last post?

You might be surprised at how many people are actually able to work out a FULL 7 days from their last post.

ie, if you made your last post at 10:51am on April 23rd, you CANNOT make another post until a full 8 days after that.

That means, that you CANNOT make a bump at 4:22am, 6:43am, 8:18am, or even 10:50am.

Until 10:51am hits, it's NOT a full 7 days passed and you are in to the 8th day.

And... looking at your sales thread, that's exactly what happened. You were 10 hours too early, my friend. There is nothing wrong with the system, it's working exactly as designed. Case closed.

LongStone December 8th, 2013 14:48

would be nice if there was a regional filter added to the classified search or even tagged to beginning of the post title

Why? Most things are shipped anyway.

Cobrajr122 December 10th, 2013 08:12

maybe hes getting tired of finding something he wants, price is right, oh wait, local sale only for some reason....

how hard is it to put shit in a box and ship it - your not paying for it anyways!

(I too dislike these people :P)

Would be nice if people were honest and actually put their correct locations so that a regional filter might actually work. But alas it is a lot of work for something that people do not always like to be truthful about so it's not going to,happen.

swatt13 December 10th, 2013 11:39

Ya I don't get that. In my experience it's always been an Ontario seller :p but ya what hives?? I want said item charge me extra for thud shipping and send it to me or F off.
