Modern Mp40 Variant

Hello, new here.

Looking at buying the matrix mp40 and, along with upgrading the internals, I plan on modding the exterior also. Wondering if:

- there is a picatinny top rail system in production or if I would have to make something custom?

- suppressors/ tracer units can be added?

- the internal upgrades I should make on it.

The mp40 for reference:

Thanks boys

I know someone that has an AGM Mp40 and it doesn't look that good. The magazines are plastic and have durability issues. The folding stock wobbles, has almost a 1/2" of play, and the materials are made of pot-metal mixed with cheap plastic.

I see you've linked Hero Outdoors, and I'd assume you've considered buying from their store.

I would avoid at ALL costs. If you're lucky, you call them ahead, and they ACTUALLY have it. If you aren't, they tell you they have it when they don't, or they tell you "It'll be here in a week, would you like to wait?" and then jerk you around for 3 months before you have to call to get a refund.

That's what happened with me at least ._.

Oh really? I bought the aw dl44 from them around February and have bought quite a few soft goods and knives from them in the past. Never had a problem. First I'm hearing of this.

Looking to upgrade most of the stock internals as well as use it mainly with the stock collapsed. Had no idea the build quality was so low. I also plan on using king mid cap mags. Am I still advised to stay away, or could I fix it?

I have an AGM MP40.

It works with the King Arms plastic 100rnds midcaps, as well as the 50 round metal AGM lowcaps. SRC hicaps can be made to work if you take the internals of the mag out and turn them around. I think. I haven't tested this.

The stock hop up is crap, but luckily there is a fairly easy way to change it to an AK type hop up. Just type AGM MP40 AK hop up into Google and you'll get a few different guides.

Yes the stock does wobble, but I believe it also wobbles a fair amount on the real thing (someone prove me wrong if you want, but I think this is the case).

The side covers and pistol grip are plastic, but they're fairly thick and when screwed on tightly feel just fine. The real one used bakelite for these parts.

You'll likely want to bypass the weird safety switch on the bottom of the pistol grip, as it can be a source of electrical problems down the road.

I'd also recommend gutting pretty much all of the internals. If you're lucky you'll get one with brass bushings, if not you'll get one with plastic ones. There are more guides out there on Google as to what version parts go in; I upgraded mine a couple years ago and can't really remember. Think mostly V3 stuff, though I do recall that the nozzle is a proprietary length.

I also recommend a high torque motor after upgrading the internals. I think it takes a short type, but one of the upgrade guides should state it.

The barrel is threaded, with the threads protected by a muzzle nut. I couldn't tell you what the threading is, though.

For modern rail crap I don't really think there are many options out there. You'll likely have to get creative with it. Also be prepared to have people ask why you'd want to do something like that to a classic gun.

Awesome thanks for the reply, yeah I was hoping to make some sort of modern mp40 mashup with probably full new internals. Hoping the full internal rework won't cost more in total than a vector. I found one modern rail online but I'm unsure if the iron sight screws are in the same location or are even removable
